Canoe the AvonDistance from the centre of Kingsbridge: 3.2 miles 6:30 pm
A guided canoe tour exploring the upper reaches of the Avon Estuary; wildlife, weirs and industrial archaeology. Launching from Timbers car park in Aveton Gifford around high tide we can make the most of the water in the River Avon to explore.
We will travel first downstream and then turn to paddle upstream. As the river narrows we will have to negotiate trees to discover the hidden seclusion of the area around the weir. After a brief look round we can retrace our steps to find the aqueduct and the canal.
Along the way we will stop to look at and discuss the many interesting plants found along the waterway. Wildlife to be spotted: kingfisher, grey mullet, barn owl, little egret, osprey, deer, swallows, sand martins, and house martins
