Start by enjoying a warm beverage at the gorgeous seafront Terrace Cafe with panoramic views, whilst you listen to your walk briefing from Living Coasts’ expert Learning Coordinator, Tom James. He will let you know what kinds of local wildlife to be on the lookout for during the walk, and show you how to use your special bug-spotting card.
The walk will take you around one of Torbay's three limestone plateaux, which gives great views of the Bay and the harbour. It is a short stroll but watch out for some steep ascent and descent in places, including steps. Your route travels through an area once formally cultivated by Victorian gardeners, but now preserved as a wildlife conservation area, rich in rare plants and with its own colony of the nationally endangered horseshoe bats in a former wartime lookout post. Children will love the dramatic outlook over the cliffs and the London Bridge rock arch, as well as the adventure playground feel of the route. Watch out for the Devil in his limestone cave!
For added excitement, there will be a family-friendly outdoors activity to get involved with at the midway rest point, Daddyhole Plain.
Advanced booking essential. £6 per person.
