The garden is a hidden gem tucked away at the top of Fore Street. It is full of surprises with plenty of tables & chairs for you to enjoy your picnic in a tranquil green space. The garden was established as a Charity in 1995 and today welcomes visitors, local people, children from the nearby Ark Nursery and adults with additional needs. It is supported by a group of Trutees and volunteers who work there together once or twice a week to weed, plant, mend, mow & compost.
A pond encourages wildlife meeting one of our objectives to create a peaceful haven.
The vegetable beds offer an opportunity to ‘Pick’n Pay’ and a special bed for flower cutting encourages the possibility of people taking a small bunch of flowers for the table. A board with prices is on display & payment is made via an ‘honesty box’ in the cairn.
We have 2 polytunnels & a greenhouse , we propagate as much as possible, collect water and create as much of our own compost as possible. Plants are for sale most of the year.
A hydrangea bed and a camellia bed are to be found in the lower garden which is a wilder space, attracting hedgehogs, slow worms and a variety of insect and bird life.
Although we are not affiliated to any National Garden Schemes, we have been awarded ‘outstanding’ by the RHS for our contributions to the ‘It’s your Neighbourhood‘ section of South West in Bloom.
We offer you an opportunity to reconnect with nature surrounded by all things green.
We do hope you will visit the garden and feel refreshed & inspired.
