South Devon Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty
Kingsbridge lies in the heart of South Devon AONB. The designation means it's one of the best bits of countryside in the whole of England and Wales! AONBs are wonderful for wildlife and scenery but also places where people live, work, relax and take care of the countryside.
What's so special about South Devon AONB?
Our AONB is loved for its rugged cliffs, sandy coves, peaceful countryside, pretty villages, rolling hills, secretive estuaries and dark night skies. It is ancient, and has generations of human activity etched into its landscape. The area is popular with locals and visitors alike, and offers both quiet inspiration and a wide range of recreation opportunities. Check out our website for over 40 downloadable circular walks and trails, visit www.southdevonaonb.org.uk
'Explorer' leaflets
Our free 'Explorer' leaflet features walks, talks and events organised by the AONB and other organisations that help us to enjoy, look after and manage the area. We hope that you'll find lots of ideas for days out and ways to enjoy our stunning AONB, and discover some of the stories from people, who live, work and play here. There are also events for all ages which will help you understand more about looking after, and living, in a protected landscape. They are also listed at www.southdevonaonb.org.uk
