Come from Away is the critically acclaimed Olivier Award winning musical featuring the highly original storytelling score by Irene Sankoff and David Hein and directed by Carey Ryan-Carter.
It is based on the true story of the moment in history when the tiny isolated town of Gander, Newfoundland, unexpectedly played host to the world. What started as an average day turned into an international sleepover, when 38 planes, carrying 7000 people from around the globe, were diverted to Gander’s airstrip on September 11, 2001 after the closure of American airspace.
Come From Away is a wonderful opportunity for KATS to spread the show’s upbeat message of kindness, unity, and resilience by following the stories of the unlikely lifelong friendships forged by complete strangers during these 5 days and the incredible true backstories of the characters involved.
