Spectacular Seaweed

Visit South Devon, create, taste and nourish yourself with the magic of Seaweed. Did you know sea vegetables contain 10 to 20 times more minerals than land vegetables?

On this one day course you will learn about the benefits of cooking and eating seaweeds, how to turn them into delicious dishes and snacks and cook a delicious lunch to enjoy with your fellow students. In the afternoon, take part in a seaweed pressing workshop and take home three beautiful pieces of stunning artwork created using locally gathered seaweed.

In the morning…

Lara will teach you delicious and nutritious seaweed recipes to add multiple minerals to your cooking repertoire.  Participants will then share a nutritious macrobiotic lunch.

In the afternoon…

Jill Mottram will explain the history of seaweed pressing, teach how to identify and collect seaweeds and guide you through the process, to create 3 seaweed pressings of your own. You will need up to a week to complete the process at home and will require some newspaper and heavy books. All the seaweeds and materials will be provided on the day. This is the perfect way to create your own unique art work and learn about seaweeds along the way! (‘The Seaweed Studio’ hand presses locally sourced seaweeds.)
