What is the Art Box?

Mercer ArtBox is a ceramic studio/ classroom/ gallery space, in the heart of Kingsbridge.
It’s a working studio for South West Academician and ceramic artist  Caroline Mercer, who also leads the studio education and events.

Who are we?

 We are a team of three qualified and experienced teachers, fully DBS certified and insured. We have years of teaching, safeguarding and first aid training between us and we all have different strengths to add to the experience.

What do we offer?

We offer studio events all year round. Please keep an eye on our website and our socials to see what’s coming up!

We provide weekly ceramic, evening classes for adults on a Tuesday and Thursday, 6-8pm. Our weekly ‘Clay Club’ is for children aged 6+; we meet after school at 3.45pm - have a quick chat about our weeks, a drink and a biscuit and get cracking with our own clay projects. Caroline is on hand to teach, direct and support. All pieces are fired and glazed in the studio by Caroline. 

We also offer monthly (first Tuesday or every month) life drawing classes, for the grown ups! Țhis is lightly tutored, meaning; anyone of any ability/ experience can join in, learn and develop their observational and drawing skills. It’s a supportive and fun evening. All resources provided but you can bring your own. 

During the school holidays we hold bespoke, whole day Art Schools, covering a range of disciplines; from clay to print through to paint, sculpture and drawing! Again, these are suitable for ages 6+ and you will go home with a high quality finished piece of art as well as having enjoyed a lovely day, int he studio. 

Due to popular demand, we hold the same courses for ‘The  Grown Ups’ on the odd Saturday. We also plan and host both clay and paint parties, again for children and adults. Please contact us directly to find out more, to help you plan your party. 

Our most recent offer is affectionately known as ‘Meet, Eat, Make’ -We can host up to 10 adults of a the evening. BYO food and wine, or order from ‘Verse’ (our lovely and super talented neighbours). Create a super, frame-able ink/paint image to take away with you, all the time having a good catch your with friends.
