Totnes does however retain a strong hold on its heritage. There are many notable buildings and monuments in the town, including the museum. They are all guarded by the classic Norman motte and bailey of Totnes Castle, which has commanding views of the Dart Valley.
There is a main line train station which is the nearest to Kingsbridge and the two towns are linked by a regular bus service.
