Discovery Surf School

Learn to surf at Bigbury-on-Sea with South Devon's premier surf school since 2002. Run by local couple Martin and Annika Connolly, we are based in the beautiful seaside village of Bigbury-on-Sea, next to Bantham. 

We provide professional coaching for all ages and abilities with an emphasis on safe, high quality tuition in small groups. We'll guarantee you'll be up and riding in your first lesson! We offer beginner courses, improver lessons, or why not develop your skills with an advanced coaching session. Our private family lessons are also a very popular option to get the whole family involved at a reduced rate.

We also run a fun filled Surf Camp during holiday time at Challaborough and a Surf Club every Saturday for local children aged 8-14 at a reduced lesson rate at Bigbury-on-Sea. It is a great opportunity for children to develop their surfing skills and to meet others who are as keen as them about surfing. Once a child has had some lessons and is confident to get out there and continue, the Surf Club provides an excellent opportunity to learn new skills, understand about equipment, socialise with like-minded children and most importantly to have fun! Surf Club runs every Saturday throughout the year (we only cancel if conditions are adverse) from 9.30am until 11.30m; it costs £12 per session and equipment is provided if a child doesn't have their own.

New to the quiver, we have 2 Red Paddle XL Ride boards, they are great for school groups, birthday parties, team building and pretty much anyone looking to have fun in the water. As well as lessons you can hire boards, wetsuits, SUP equipment and kayaks at our beach surf shop.
