The Millbrook Inn

Distance from the centre of Kingsbridge: 3.5 miles

Overview

Down a winding lane at the edge of the creek, somewhere between Salcombe by water and Kingsbridge by car, you’ll find The Millbrook: a proper Devon pub where the food matters as much as the welcome. It’s the kind of place that feels hidden in the best possible way; worth the drive, worth the detour, and exactly where you want to end up on a cold evening or a summer afternoon.

The kitchen cooks with what’s close. Shorthorn beef raised on our own farm, vegetables from our garden, fish straight from the South Devon coast, all in the hands of Head Chef Elly Wentworth. The result is ingredient-led dishes that are refined but have all the comfort real pub food should: Sunday roasts worth the weekly pilgrimage, seafood that still tastes of the sea, and plates that celebrate Devon without shouting about it. We're proud to feature in both the Michelin Guide and the Trencherman's Guide, and to be one of the Good Food Guide's Britain's 100 Best Pubs too.

There’s always something going on here too: live music by the fire, high-tide barbecues and special events each month that make for exciting additions to diaries.

A glass of wine, a good pint, food with real provenance, and the hum of a Devon village pub at its best. That’s the Millbrook. Not a place you stumble across, but a place you seek out. And once you’ve found it, you tend to come back.
